II - THE CURRICULUM - 3 WEEK, FULL TIME PROFESSIONAL FLORAL DESIGN PROGRAM
1. Design Forms
Circular, horizontal, vertical, oval, fan,
crescent, Symmetrical and Asymmetrical triangles, hand-tied bouquets, Hogarth curve, European designs.
2. Techniques of Design
Colour harmony, basing, focal area, terracing, grouping, framing, banding, binding, clustering, shadowing, parallelism.
3. Proper Care & Handling of Fresh Flowers
Processing, merchandising, flower and plant identification, availability of floral products in the Canadian marketplace.
4. Wedding Etiquette
Wedding order procedures, wiring and taping techniques, design bouquets for brides, bridesmaids, flower girls,
corsages, hair flowers, boutonnieres, ceremonies and receptions, with
emphasis on construction materials and techniques.
5. Sympathy Tributes
Step-by-step construction of funeral baskets, casket and standing sprays, vase arrangements, wreaths, hearts, crosses, including appropriate pricing and delivery.
6. Wholesale Excursion
Program includes exciting and informative trip to the flower auction and many floral wholesale distributors.
