YOU CAN LEARN FLORAL DESIGN for ALL OCCASIONS!

Basic Floral Design 1

An intensive five day program to help prepare the student for a career in the
industry. Learn the "tricks of the trade" to start your new career in the
floral industry.
No previous experience necessary.

Program includes:

- The proper care and handling of flowers, the Chain of Life, ethylene gases,
floral cooler temperatures and humidity.

- Triangle and round arrangements - floral foam arrangements - emphasis on
flower placement - line/form/mass/filler flowers/greens and knife skills.

- Wiring and taping skills, mechanics, feathering, construction, language
of flowers and bow making.

- Traditional corsage/boutonniere construction, placement and variations.

Basic Floral Design 2

This week of intensive training concentrates on increasing the skill
set, and the student is introduced to dealing with other aspects of the industry.
Prerequisite: Basic Floral Design 1

Program includes:

- Emphasis on weddings - etiquette, ordering, consultations, dealing with bride and
family/wedding planners, church/reception flowers - planning and preparing.

- Styles of bouquets and dresses, plus construction of bouquets, decor flowers,
modern/contemporary body flowers, wedding party flowers. Create a wedding as a
team

- Funeral/memorial flowers - funeral etiquette and sympathy tributes. Construction of
funeral pieces and dealing with the grieving customer/funeral directors. Create a
wreath/heart/cross as a team.

- Care and handling of plants, planters, and orchids. Wrapping roses/flowers/plants.

- Wholesale excursion and flower auction

- Extra: Duchess Rose/Glamelia

Basic Floral Design 3

By this stage, the student has advanced to a higher level of design,
with greater knowledge/impeccable mechanics and comfort level to advance to
free style, vase and hand tied designs.
Prerequisite: Basic Floral Design 1 & 2

Program includes:

- Styles and techniques of design, complete design of choice with styles and techniques
learned.

- Vase arrangements, bud vases and rose bowls, as well as armature construction.

- Hand tied bouquets/European Spiral bouquets - wrapping, water bubbles and pricing.

- Colour wheel and the effects of colour in the industry.

- Mechanics of Design and tools required as well as merchandising.

- Extra: Edible flowers/dried and permanent botanical designs.

CLASS DATES AND COSTS - 2012

Each Floral Design class is 1 week/5 days, 7 hours per day.
The classes will run consecutively for anyone wishing to complete all three. Each class
is $700, with a non-refundable registration fee of $150. For International
students each class is $900 and a non-refundable registration fee of $250.
Students may take each class separately, any time that suits, or take all
three consecutively. If classes are taken separately, the registration fee is in
effect for each class taken.
